Priests for Life

Fr. Peter West

The weekend of Oct 19, St. Patrick’s Sanctity of Life Committee will host Father Peter West from the national Catholic pro-life organization ‘Priests for Life.’ Fr. West has been a pro-life activist since for almost twenty years. He earned an M.A. degree in theology from Holy Apostles Seminary in Cromwell, CT and was ordained for the Archdiocese of Newark in 1991. Father West was the founder and director of Amicus, a successful Catholic young adult group for men and women in their twenties and thirties. He has experience working with youth as a teacher and a youth group leader. He spent almost seven years in pastoral ministry before being released by Archbishop McCarrick to serve with Priests for Life on April 1,1998. Since that time he has spoken to both priests and laity at over 300 parishes throughout the United States. He also has appeared on radio and TV spreading the Gospel of Life

The mission of Priests for Life, directed by Father Frank Pavone, is to unite and encourage all clergy to give special emphasis to life issues in their ministry. This organization, an official, non-profit Private Association of the Faithful under the Canon Law of the Catholic Church, is a pro-life network of over 40,000 priests and deacons.

Weekend Events include:

Area middle and high school students are invited to "Be a Life Saver!" The presentation will be at St. Patrick’s Family Center on Friday, Oct. 19, from 7 PM- 9 PM.

A sidewalk prayer vigil will take place from 10 AM to 11 AM on Saturday, Oct. 20. We will meet at Women's Medical Services in Muskegon.

"Proclaiming the Gospel of Life & God’s Mercy", an ecumenical presentation by Fr. West, will be Saturday, Oct. 20, at 7 PM at Muskegon Catholic Center High School.

Fr. West will also co-celebrate the weekend masses at St. Patrick and St. Anthony’s. The mass schedule at St. Patrick’s is Saturday evening at 5 PM, Sunday at 10 AM and 11:45 AM.  The mass at St. Anthony’s on Sunday at 8 AM.
